No. 9 Razorbacks win five events, set relay facility record at LSU
BATON ROUGE – No. 9 Arkansas produced five victories at the LSU Invitational on Saturday, including a pair of 1-2-3 sweeps in the 400m and 400m hurdles. The Razorbacks closed out the meet with a facility record in the 4 x 400m relay with a winning time of 3:23.68.
While the rain moved on from the area from Friday’s showers, winds remained and produced readings over the allowable 4.0 in some events.
In the 4 x 400m relay, the Razorbacks defeated LSU (3:26.89) and pro group Hurdle Mechanic (3:27.04) while a second Arkansas foursome placed fourth in 3:35.71.
The winning time by the Razorbacks ranks No. 5 on the UA all-time list and bettered the Bernie Moore Stadium record of 3:25.64 set by Texas in 2022.
Analisse Batista and Sanu Jallow-Lockhart combined for a split of 1:43.80 on the first two laps of the race with LSU matching that same combo split. Kaylyn Brown then delivered a 49.84 third leg split to give Arkansas a decisive lead. Sanaria Bulter closed out the relay with a 50.04 anchor leg.
Generating a season best of 50.09, Brown claimed the 400m with teammates Butler (50.80) and Jallow-Lockhart (51.20) finishing second and third. Arkansas alum Shafiqua Maloney placed fourth in 51.50.
Brown and Butler went 1-2 in the second section of the 200m with windy times of 22.57 and 22.92, respectively, with an aiding wind of +3.5. Amirah Sharpe added a 22.96w (+3.0) in section three. The Arkansas trio were the top three collegians in the field. Pro Thelma Davies had the top time overall with a 22.41w (+3.2) from the first section.
Saira Prince led the Razorback sweep in the 400m hurdles as she clocked 55.77 while teammates Morgan Herbst and Rae-Anne Serville both posted a 56.99. The mark places Serville at equal No. 9 on the UA all-time list.
Maria Arboleda registered a fourth high jump win in five outdoor meets this season as she cleared 5-10 (1.78) for the victory. Heidi Hudson produced a wind-aided victory in the long jump with a mark of 21-5 (6.41), with a +4.7 aiding wind, and then placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 5-8.5 (1.74).
Within the long jump series for Hudson she had a 20-7.75w (6.29) with a +4.0 wind along with an outdoor PR of 20-0.25 (6.10) that had a +1.6 wind.
In the pole vault, Hannah Estes placed third with a 13-1.5 (4.00) clearance.
Racing in the 800m, Makenna Herbst finished second with a 2:04.00 while Jamaica’s Stacey Ann Williams won with a 2:02.98. Razorback Ainsley Erzen placed fifth in 2:06.72.
Josphine Mwaura placed second in the 1,500m with a 4:19.40 behind the winning time of 4:19.09 by Florida State’s Nicole Dinan. Razorback Olivia Pielemeier finished sixth in 4:29.48.
