
Ortiz Holds 54-Hole Lead At Latin America Amateur

One name atop the leaderboard stayed the same, but oh how deceiving that is.
Alvaro Ortiz, 48, entered Saturday’s third round at the Latin America Amateur Championship with a one-shot lead. He would end the day two shots behind after a 3-over 73 dropped him to even par (but he’s still the oldest player to make the cut this week).
In his place a different Alvaro Ortiz – this one a 21-year-old – emerged. Ortiz fired a Saturday 67 at Panama Golf Club in Panama City to jump to 2 under and a share of the 54-hole lead.
