Oyler named United Soccer Coaches Defender to Watch
FAYETTEVILLE – Transfer defender Kelsey Oyler, an All-American at Gonzaga last fall, was named to the United Soccer Coaches Defenders to Watch list, the association announced Tuesday.
The senior from Meridian, Idaho played in all 20 matches for the Bulldogs and propelled them to a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. She led the West Coast Conference in assists (12) and sits atop the Gonzaga record book for career assists (21) and single-season assists (12). Oyler was named All-WCC First Team and finished the year ranked No. 73 in TopDrawerSoccer’s postseason top 100 players.
Before beginning her collegiate career, Oyler was on three Idaho state championships at Rocky Mountain High School and was named the Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
Oyler and the Hogs will return to the pitch on Friday, Aug. 8 for an exhibition against Kansas State. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. from Buser Family Park in Manhattan, Kansas.
