Arkansas Viewed As Top Contender In Latest Rankings
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s cross country team heads into the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championship as the No. 6 team in the country, announced Monday afternoon by the USTFCCCA. The final coaches’ polls were released following the completion of regional competition which saw the Razorbacks capture their fourth-consecutive South Central region title on their home course last Friday morning.
Arkansas has now been nationally ranked in the top six or higher since the preseason rankings were released. This is the highest consecutively ranked season for the Razorbacks since 2006.
In the hunt for a national title, Arkansas will line up against the best of the best on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Razorbacks last earned a spot on the top-four podium in 2005 when they finished second behind Wisconsin with a score of 105 points led by current volunteer assistant coach Josphat Boit’s fifth-place (team-scoring) finish.
