LAST TIME OUT

  • Arkansas Women’s Basketball fell in Tuesday’s makeup game inside the Pavilion, as Ole Miss defeated the Razorbacks, 70-62.
  • The loss was the third straight for the Razorbacks, their second three-game losing streak of the season. Ole Miss won the battle on the glass, 42-35, and as a result, dominated the second chance points category, outscoring the Hogs 16-5 off offensive rebounds.
  • Samara Spencer continued to lay the groundwork for her Freshman of the Year bid, leading the Razorbacks with 19 points, six rebounds and five assists.
  • Amber Ramirez scored 15 points in the contest, her 15th straight outing with double-digit points, while Sasha Goforth also cleared double-figures, scoring 13 points of her own.
  • Arkansas got off to a slow start in the first quarter for the third straight game, and finished the frame trailing 22-15. Shakira Austin led the way in the frame, as she put in seven points and six rebounds, while Madison Scott added five points and four rebounds. Ole Miss and Arkansas would play just about even quarters in the second and third frames, and the lead entering the fourth was nine for the Rebs.
  • Arkansas was able to cut into the lead in the fourth, trimming the deficit all the way down to three on a layup from Spencer. Makayla Daniels had a chance to tie it on a corner three, but the ball got caught between the rim and backboard, and the possession arrow favored Ole Miss. The Rebels would only go eight of 16 from the free throw line in the fourth, but it was enough to hold off the Razorback rally.
  • Spencer has now scored 17 or more in eight of her last nine games.
  • Ramirez’s double-digit scoring streak reached 15 games.
  • Jersey Wolfenbarger pulled down seven rebounds, a team-high.

STORYLINES

  • After missing four straight games, Makayla Daniels returned for the Hogs against Kentucky.
  • Daniels played 26 minutes at Ole Miss on Tuesday, while she played 24 against Kentucky.
  • She scored seven points Sunday and four points Tuesday.
  • Daniels was playing some of the best ball of her career before her injury, including a huge 20-point game against LSU right before she went down.
  • Rylee Langerman has quickly become a fan favorite among the Hog faithful.
  • Her hustle and energy are staples to her game, and she is the glue that holds the team together.
  • Langerman just earned a spot on the 2022 SEC Community Service Team. She has become a role model in the NWA community in just two seasons on the Hill, including a role model for those affected by Alopecia.

SCOUTING GEORGIA

  • The Lady Bulldogs have won two straight and seven of the last eight meetings against the Razorbacks. Georgia leads the all-time series, 36-6, and is 15-3 against Arkansas in Fayetteville.
  • Georgia ranks third in the SEC in scoring defense, holding teams to just 58.3 ppg. Arkansas is second in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 74.9 ppg.
  • The Lady Bulldogs are led by graduates Jenna Staiti and Que Morrison. Staiti has paced Georgia in scoring a team-high 16 times, while Morrison ranks among league leaders in scoring, assists, steals and free-throw percentage.
  • Staiti is one of just five players in program history to score over 1,000 career points, bring down over 500 rebounds and block over 250 shots. Staiti ranks fifth in the Georgia record book with 254 career swats.
  • Even though Staiti and Morrison lead Georgia, a pair of younger teammates have stepped up recently. Junior forward Javyn Nicholson has drawn three-straight starts and is coming off an 11-point effort at Auburn.
  • Freshman Reigan Richardson has seen her playing time increase. She has reached double figures in scoring in three of the last four games.
  • Georgia boasts an 8-3 record away from Stegeman Coliseum this season with impressive wins against NC State, Notre Dame, Marquette, Texas Tech and Ole Miss.
