PREVIEW: Hogs in San Diego for ITA National Fall Championships

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Two doubles teams and one singles player from Arkansas are set to compete in the final tournament of the men’s fall tennis season, the ITA National Fall Championships. The championships feature the best players in college tennis.

The Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego will play host to the fall season’s finale, where 32 singles players and 32 doubles teams are set to try to take home the fall title. The event is in its fifth year, replacing the former ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships.

Five Arkansas players qualified to compete in the ITA’s top fall tournament. The Razorback doubles teams of Melvin Manuel/Adrien Burdet and Riccardo Trione/Oscar Pinto Sansano both reached the doubles final of Arkansas’ regional tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska. The two teams faced each other in the final, and Manuel and Burdet prevailed in the championship in three sets, booking their spot in San Diego. Trione and Pinto Sansano were later chosen for a bid to compete in the championships as well.

Sophomore Aleksa Bucan also had a big week in Lincoln, taking down three seeded players, including No. 1 seed Mason Beiler from Oklahoma, en route to the singles championship match. All singles finalists automatically qualify for the National Fall Championships.

First round matchups will be found here when the ITA posts the tournament’s draws Thursday morning. The tournament will be livestreamed on Cracked Racquets youtube page at this link
