- No. 20 Arkansas Women’s Basketball kept rolling on Wednesday night, beating Belmont 91-60 at Bud Walton Arena.
- The Hogs beat an opponent by 30+ for the fourth straight game.
- Three players crossed the 20-point threshold for Head Coach Mike Neighbors: redshirt junior guard Chelsea Dungee (21), freshman guard Makayla Daniels (21) and senior guard Alexis Tolefree (20).
- Dungee scored 21 points in the game, and has now scored 20+ points in 22 of her 42 games in the Red & White.
- Tolefree’s 20 was a season-high for her, and was just two shy of her career-high. It was her third time dropping 20+ points.
- Daniels continues to score it well, as her 21-point game tonight was the second time in the last three games the freshman has cleared 20 points.
- Redshirt freshman Erynn Barnum led the Hogs in rebounding, pulling down eight boards. Barnum also had two rejections in the game to lead the squad.
STORYLINES
- No. 20 Arkansas is off to a 5-0 start for the first time since 2016 following its 91-60 win over Belmont.
- Arkansas moved up three spots in the AP Poll following its dominant week, moving from 23 to 20.
- The Hogs also jumped from 22 to 18 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll.
- This week marks the highest ranking for the Hogs in the AP since January 9 of 2011, when they were also ranked 20.
- The No. 18 ranking in the Coaches’ Poll is the highest for the Razorbacks since the week of January 7, 2008, when Arkansas was ranked 18.
- The Functionally Fast style of play for the Razorbacks has produced promising results in the early part of the 2019-20 season, as Neighbors’ offense is currently ranked seventh in the NCAA (91.6 PPG).
- The Razorbacks are one of just seven teams in the country averaging 90+ points per game, joining Mississippi State, Oregon, Abilene Christian, Texas Tech, Baylor and Indiana.
- The dominant offense paired with an improving defense has yielded the 15th best Point Differential (+33.2) in the nation.
- Arkansas has gotten a lot of its offense from beyond the arc, where the Hogs have been elite. They are making 11.0 three-balls a game (55 through five games), the 5th-best mark in the NCAA.
- That volume paired with the team’s efficiency from beyond (39.6 percent, 27th-best in the NCAA) has yielded great results in the early going for the Razorback attack.
- Neighbors’ bunch has gotten a lot of its offense from the line this season, too, as they are second in the nation in free throws made (101) behind only Troy. The next closest Power 5 team is Nebraska, who has made 84 freebies this season so far.
