- No. 23 Arkansas Women’s Basketball (4-0) remained perfect, topping Stony Brook (3-1), 88-58, at Bud Walton Arena on Sunday afternoon.
- The Razorbacks used a big first half from beyond the arc (7-13) to get ahead and stay ahead, five of which came from redshirt junior guard Amber Ramirez.
- Ramirez’s 26 points was her most as a Hog, and her six treys matched the most made threes in a game by a Razorback this season.
- Chelsea Dungee moved her double-figure scoring streak to 21, going for 19 points.
- Makayla Daniels continues to score the ball with efficiency, going for 13 points on three of six shooting. She has been in double-figures in all four of her career games so far.
- Junior forward Taylah Thomas once again led the Hogs in rebounding, grabbing nine of them in the game.
- Redshirt junior guard A’Tyanna Gaulden led the charge for the Razorback bench, dropping a season-high nine points (3-6 FG).
STORYLINES
- No. 20 Arkansas is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2016 following its 88-58 win over Stony Brook.
- Arkansas moved up three spots in the AP Poll follwoing its dominant week, moving from 23 to 20.
- This week marks the highest ranking for the Hogs since January 9 of 2011, when they were also ranked 20.
- The Functionally Fast style of play for the Razorbacks has produced promising results in the early part of the 2019-20 season, as Neighbors’ offense is currently ranked seventh in the NCAA (91.8 PPG).
- The Razorbacks are one of just seven teams in the country averaging 90+ points per game.
- The dominant offense paired with an improving defense has yielded the 17th best Point Differential (+33.8) in the nation.
- The Razorbacks also lead all Power 5 teams in three pointers made, with 42 of them through four games. They are 10th in the nation in that category.
- Freshman guard Makayla Daniels was named the SEC’s Freshman of the Week following her performances against Oral Roberts and Stony Brook.
- Daniels was simply sensational this past week for the Razorbacks, averaging 20 points, three assists and two rebounds over the two-game stretch.
