LAST TIME OUT
- No. 20 Arkansas Women’s Basketball (11-1) beat Little Rock (2-8), 86-53, in Simmons Bank Arena last Saturday afternoon.
- With the win, Arkansas is off to its best start since 2013-14, when the Hogs opened the season with 13 straight victories.
- Chelsea Dungee and Alexis Tolefree paced the Hogs, going for 21 points each. With her 21 in the game, Dungee became the fastest Razorback to ever reach 1,000 points at Arkansas, needing just 49 games in the Red & White to do it.
- Tolefree, meanwhile, matched her season-high against the Trojans, and went for 20+ for the third time in her last four games.
- Ramirez reached double-digits yet again for the Hogs, going for 12 points (4-8 3PT). She has reached double-figures nine times in 12 games this season.
- A’Tyanna Gaulden continues to be a force off the bench for the Hogs, going for 15 points against Little Rock. She has now scored in double-figures in three straight contests.
- Little Rock native Erynn Barnum was dominant near the rim on Saturday afternoon, recording a career-high four rejections. She became the first freshman Razorback to record four or more blocks in a game since Macy Weaver had four against UTEP (11/23/17).
STORYLINES
- With her 21 points against the Trojans, Chelsea Dungee now has exactly 1,000 points as a Razorback. It took her just 49 games in the Red & White to get there, the fastest mark in program history to get to 1,000 points.
- Dungee averaged 20.4 points per game over those 49 contests, the highest average in program history.
- The previous fastest mark was held by Bettye Fiscus, who scored her 1,000th point in her 55th game as a Hog.
- Fiscus is currently Arkansas’ all-time leading scorer, holding the program record with 2,073 points. She is Arkansas’ only 2,000-point scorer ever.
- Dungee now has 1,244 total career points, as she scored 244 during her freshman season at Oklahoma.
- Coach Neighbors’ 2019 Hogs have been great offensively, and a lot of that has to do with their proficiency in three areas: Three-Point Shooting, Free Throw Shooting, and Lack of Turnovers.
- Arkansas has gotten a lot of its offense from beyond the arc, where the Hogs have been elite. They are making 9.6 three-balls a game, the eighth-best mark in the NCAA and the second-most among Power-5 teams.
- That volume paired with the team’s efficiency from beyond (37.3 percent, 25th-best in the NCAA) has yielded great results in the early going for the Razorback attack.
- Neighbors’ bunch has gotten a lot of its offense from the line this season, too, as they are third the nation, and leading the Power-5, in free throws made (227). The Hogs are also third in the nation in free throw attempts (308).
- The Hogs also play an incredibly efficient style, only turning the ball over 10.5 times a game on average. That is the second-best mark in the NCAA, and the best mark among Power-5 Teams.
- Though Neighbors’ squads are not usually known for their defense, this team has been stifling in some important areas through the non-conference part of the 2019-20 schedule.
- The Hogs actually lead the country in three-point percentage defense. Opponents are shooting just 19.5 percent from deep against the Razorbacks.
- Neighbors’ bunch has been good on the defensive glass this season, too, averaging 31.7 defensive rebounds per game, the 12th-best mark in the NCAA.
