Razorback Brew 1/13: Blink And They're Gone
Good morning. It’s finally here! Part one of the HogsPlus.com documentary celebrating 100 years of Arkansas men’s basketball is officially available on-demand for Hogs+ members.
Click here to watch The Beginning, a deep dive into the foundations of the Razorback basketball program—from Smitty’s Barn through the era of Eddie Sutton & the triplets. Featuring interviews with Tom Boyer, Sidney Moncrief, Ron Brewer, Jim Counce, Joe Kleine, Rick Schaeffer, Matt Zimmerman, and Frank Broyles.
What else is steeping in today’s Brew?
- Jay Bilas’ first time at BWA
- Season ticket renewals are live!
- And much, much more!
Bucket list destination. Renowned ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas has always wanted to call a game in Fayetteville, and he got the full experience this week.
Follow Jay Bilas as he prepares for and calls a top 15 matchup between Arkansas and Alabama. Get an inside look at his first visit to Bud Walton Arena, and hear his mid-practice convo with head coach Eric Musselman as the two talk ball.
> DON’T MISS OUT. If you haven’t yet renewed your Razorback football season tickets for 2023, now’s the time.
The Early Hog Deadline is 11am today, which means it’s your last chance to renew with no transaction fees (savings of up to $40), receive 10 bonus priority points ($1,000 donation value), and have a chance to win 2 pregame sideline passes to a 2023 football game (exact game TBD).

> THE RIGHT TUNE. Razorback men’s basketball is hitting the road for back-to-back games. Up first is a trip to the Music City for a matchup against Vanderbilt tomorrow afternoon.
The Commodores have not gotten off to the best start this season. They’re 8-8 after dropping their last two games, including a three-point loss to Mizzou, whom the Hogs beat last week. The Razorbacks are 29-13 all-time against Vandy, and have won seven of the last eight meetings.
Tip-off in Nashville is set for 1pm, and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
> BEGINNING ANEW. The Arkansas Invitational will commence a new season for Arkansas indoor track and field. Plenty of new faces will compete inside Randal Tyson Track Center for the Razorbacks alongside returning stars Ayden Owens-Delerme and Britton Wilson, both of whom are listed on The Bowerman watch list.
A live stream of the meet will start at 1pm on SEC Network Plus. Check out a full list of the competing Razorbacks here and here, and click here to follow the live results.
> HOUSE PARTY. The Gymbacks’ first home meet will have you out of your seat.
The No. 16 Razorbacks’ home opener vs. No. 8 Alabama will resemble that of a dance party inside Barnhill Arena with in-meet dance-alongs to all the latest social media trends, giveaways, and games. And to top it all off, two-time NCAA champion and recent Arkansas Hall of Honor inductee Kat Grable will be honored during the meet.
Team intros start at 7:15pm with first vault at 7:30. The action will be broadcasted live on SEC Network.
> POISED TO CLIMB. With an impressive 272 points from the fall season, the Arkansas Razorbacks are in 11th place in the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings. Arkansas is just one of three SEC schools in the current top 25 thanks to impressive season-long performances from men’s and women’s cross country, football, soccer, and volleyball.
The Razorbacks have earned top-10 finishes in each of the past two years, including an eighth-place finish in 2020-21 and a seventh-place finish in 2021-22. A strong spring season will have the Hogs back inside the top-10 for a third straight year.
New season, new game. The indoor track season gets underway today. Q and Z are catching up with men’s coach Chris Bucknam, and look ahead to to tomorrow’s men’s basketball game at Vanderbilt as the Hogs look to bounce back from two straight losses.
