Razorback Brew 12/12: Boomed The Sooners
Good morning. Both Razorback basketball teams continued to stay in the win column this weekend as the non-conference schedules are starting to wrap up. We’ll break down the wins, and get you set for the week ahead.
Now, what all is steeping in today’s Brew?
- Face-to-Face with Rylee Langerman
- Hogs take Crimson and Cardinal Classic
- And much, much more!
Drive for perfection. The glue that holds the Razorback women’s basketball team together is Rylee Langerman, and the junior’s perfectionist mentality is pushing Arkansas to new heights this year.
Langerman talks with Bo Mattingly about how she took on that role, dealing with alopecia, and becoming a role model in the community.

A great player, and an even greater cause. Being a father has provided Arkansas running back Raheim Sanders plenty of perspective, and he’s on a mission to help out parents of young children just like him.
Join Rocket as he visits the Family Network’s diaper bank of Northwest Arkansas. Meet the people who make amazing things happen for families all across NWA, and hear from Rocket as he talks about his son, family, and why this cause is so important to him.
> PRISTINE IN THE PAINT. The Crimson and Cardinal Classic belonged to Arkansas men’s basketball.
The Razorbacks defeated Oklahoma 88-78 Saturday afternoon thanks fantastic offensive performances from guards Rickey Council IV and Nick Smith Jr. Council finished with a game-high 26 points, while Smith had 21 for his second straight 20-point game. The Hogs only made four three-pointers, but scored 58 points in the paint against the Sooners, the most in a road game this year.
A week of practice is in store for Eric Musselman’s team before they take the court again this Saturday against Bradley. Go inside the locker room after the game to see the victory celebration on HogsPlus.com.
> CONTINUED EXCELLENCE. For the 17th-straight year, Arkansas gymnastics has been tabbed one of the top 15 programs in the country this season, as the team received a No. 15 ranking in the Women’s College Gymnastics Association coaches poll on last week. This is the third time in head coach Jordyn Wieber’s tenure the Hogs will start the season in the top 15.
Catch a first-look at this year’s team at the Gymback Preview, taking place next Sunday at 2pm inside Barnhill Arena.
> BACKED BY LEGENDS. All-American honors were rolling in for Drew Sanders last week. On Friday, the senior linebacker was named a second-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America, making him the first Razorback linebacker to receive an All-America honor from the FWAA since Ronnie Caveness earned first-team recognition in 1964. It is the third consecutive season that an Arkansas linebacker has been named an All-American, with Grant Morgan and Bumper Pool earning the distinction in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
> MOST VALUABLE HOGS. It goes without saying, but Sanders was incredibly valuable for Arkansas‘ defense this season. His 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks made him one of the most productive players in the SEC.
How does Sanders rank among the other top Hogs from this season? Check out this ranking of the 10 most valuable Arkansas football players from The Razorback Wire.
> RUN THIS STATE. Arkansas women’s basketball moved to 12-0 on the year with a hard fought 77-63 victory over Arkansas State. Samara Spencer led the Hogs in scoring for the third time in the last four games with 19 points, but it was the Razorback defense that truly made the difference. Arkansas State was held without a made field goal in the final seven minutes of the game as the Arkansas pulled away and remain undefeated against in-state foes over the past two seasons.

Stuntin’ on the Sooners. The Hogs went to Tulsa and dominated Oklahoma in the second half en route to a big non-conference win. Matt Zimmerman shares his thoughts on a great performance in today’s episode of The Razorback Daily.
