Razorback Brew 3/3: Beat Kentucky
Good morning. Razorback women’s basketball is moving on in the SEC Tournament! Check out the highlights from Arkansas’ big win over Mizzou, and stick around for a preview of the Hogs’ next game and much more on The Hill.
Now, what all is steeping in today’s Brew?
- Lance Harter’s 44th(!) SEC Indoor Championship
- Senior day and SEC Tournament play
- And much, much more!
Winning ANYTHING 44 times is incredible. For Arkansas track and field coach Lance Harter, coming out on top in the SEC is second nature to him. It’s why from now on, Razorback athletes will run on a track named after him.
Follow Coach Harter and the women’s track & field team as they win their 9th consecutive SEC Indoor Championship on the newly named Lance Harter Track. Also, go behind the scenes with Britton Wilson as she prepares to run in the 800-meter finals.
> ONTO THE NEXT. Make that 10 in a row for Arkansas women’s basketball over Missouri. The Hogs toppled the Tigers 85-74 thanks to a 16-0 fourth quarter run to advance into the quarterfinals of SEC Tournament play. It’s head coach Mike Neighbors’ eighth victory in the tournament in just six years. Chrissy Carr dominated on offense with a career-high 34 points off 11-of-14 shooting from the field.
Arkansas is set for a rematch with No. 1 South Carolina for a quarterfinal matchup today at 11am.
> WHO NEEDS BATMAN. When Robyn can handle things herself?
The next best thing to a no-hitter is a one-hitter, and that’s what Arkansas softball pitcher Robyn Herron accomplished yesterday. The left-handed freshman went the distance in a 4-0 victory over Iowa State to kickoff the Wooo Pig Classic, striking out 12 batters and allowing the one aforementioned hit in the fifth inning. And while the Cyclones could barely afford a base, Razorbacks Rylin Hedgecock and Raigan Kramer each belted a homer out of Bogle Park, driving in three of Arkansas’ four runs.
The Hogs have a doubleheader today with Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 3pm, and North Texas at 5:30pm.
> THE WRIGHT STUFF. It’s barely March, and No. 8 Arkansas baseball is already extremely battle-tested. They’ll face off against yet another participant from the 2022 NCAA Tournament this weekend when Wright State comes to Baum-Walker Stadium. The 6-2 Hogs meet the 2-5 Raiders coming off a midweek walk off victory over Illinois State that had a total of 19 runs scored. Today, Hagen Smith and his 0.00 ERA will be back on the mound for his third start of the season.
First pitch between the Razorbacks and Raiders is set for 3pm on SEC Network Plus.
> CLUBBING IN CABO. Arkansas men’s golf is set to host one of the toughest tournaments in the NCAA: The CABO Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico. The event has ranked among the NCAA top-10 toughest tournaments since its 12-year history. Razorbacks Fernandez de Oliveira, Julian Perico, and Manuel Lozada will be among the eight players representing Arkansas for the weekend. Click here for tee times and more.
> FELINE FINALE. Senior day has arrived for Arkansas men’s basketball as the Hogs close their regular season out against the Kentucky Wildcats. Seniors Jalen Graham, Kamani Johnson, and twins Makhi and Makhel Mitchell will all be honored before the game.
We all remember what happened in the previous matchup last month. Arkansas went to Rupp Arena and had a historic day shooting the ball during the 88-73 win (check out all the behind-the-scenes from that game here). A second victory over Kentucky would put the Razorbacks at 20 wins entering conference tournament play.
Catch the tip on CBS tomorrow afternoon at 1pm.
Looking for a sweep. The women’s basketball team kept their March Madness hopes alive with a win over Missouri at the SEC Tournament, and now face top seed South Carolina. The guys discuss that and the men’s basketball team’s regular-season finale against rival Kentucky.
