Razorback distance crew starts outdoor season at Stanford

STANFORD – Arkansas opens the outdoor season with distance runners competing in the Stanford Invitational on Friday, April 3, at Cobb Track & Angell Field on the Stanford University campus.

The Razorback crew will compete in the 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m and 10,000m. There is no live stream at the Stanford Invitational this year. Live results will be available through https://rt.trackscoreboard.com/meets/4326/events.

Ben Shearer, who has an outdoor season remaining with Arkansas, races in the 5,000m along with Nick Busienei, who recently won the SEC Indoor 5,000m. Shearer, a 2025 SEC Outdoor silver medalist in the 5,000m, set his career best of 13:24.74 as runner-up in the Stanford Invitational last season.

Jack Williams, who has a best of 8:49.10 in the steeplechase, will race in the second section at Stanford. Last season Williams placed fifth in 8:54.09 competing in the third section.

The 1,500m will include a pair of Razorbacks with Owan Logorodi in section 2 and Donovan Bitticks in section 3.

During the indoor season, Logorodi ran the 1,200m first leg on the Arkansas distance medley relay that placed second at the NCAA Indoor and third in the SEC Indoor after setting a Razorback record of 9:17.30 during the Arkansas Qualifier.

Bitticks posted a time of 3:54.42 at Stanford a year ago, then set a career best of 3:43.13 at the Bryan Clay Invitational two weeks later.

Scheduled to race at 10,000m is Ernest Cheruiyot, who had quite an impact for Arkansas during the indoor season. Cheruiyot scored 11 points at the NCAA Indoor Championships, earning bronze in the 5,000m and finishing fourth in the 3,000m. He was the 3,000m silver medalist at the SEC Indoor.

At the 10,000m distance, Cheruiyot previously claimed silver at the 2025 NCAA Championships and finished fourth in 2024 competing with Texas Tech. His career best of 27:45.65 was set at the 2025 Bryan Clay Invitational.
