Razorback distance runners open indoor season in Boston

BOSTON – Arkansas opens the indoor season with five Razorbacks competing on Saturday in the Boston University Season Opener.

Following the conclusion of the cross country season, distance races are featured events in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener held at BU’s Track & Tennis Center. Arkansas will have entries in three events – mile, 3,000m, and 5,000m – with Owan Logordi contesting the mile, Brian Masai and Jack Williams racing over 3,000m, while Timothy Chesondin, Masai, and James Sankei compete in the 5,000m.

Logorodi is entered in the Elite Mile, which includes 12 entrants and is scheduled to start at 2:19 p.m. (CT). The 3,000m is schedule for 12:40 p.m. (CT) and sections of the 5,000m start at 6:15 p.m. (CT).

Multiple UA school records have been set in the past couple of seasons in the three events Arkansas runners are entered in at the Boston meet.

Current Razorback records include 3:53.95 in the mile set by Reuben Reina in 2025, 7:34.17 in the 3,000m by Yaseen Abdalla in 2024, and 13:09.99 for the 5,000m by Adballa in 2025 after a 13:11.67 by Patrick Kiprop in 2025. The 3,000m and 5,000m records were set on different race weekends at Boston University.
