Razorback Duo Wins Doubles Flight

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team picked up two more singles wins and another doubles win as play continued at the SEC Coaches Classic on Saturday.

The doubles team of Johan den Toom and Branch Terrell completed a 3-0 weekend and captured their doubles flight with an 8-5 win over the Auburn team Conner Huertas del Pino and Dante Saleh (Auburn). The Razorback duo finish the fall with a 4-1 record in doubles.

“It was another positive day seeing our team match up against the rest of the SEC,” assistant coach Nestor Briceno said. “Johan and Branch continue to improve and demonstrated that by winning their flight in doubles in a very solid match.

“Tomorrow concludes the third and final day of a very physically challenging tournament and will be a good tell of our endurance and stamina as we look ahead to the team season in the spring.”

Terrell and Austin Robles each picked up a win in singles play, both defeating Alabama’s Hayes Brewer. In other action, Juan Marino and Adam Sanjurjo fell 8-6 in the consolation final of their bracket, while Marino dropped a three-setter to Alabama’s Spencer Richey.

There will be a final round of singles tomorrow. Marino will face Florida’s Joseph Guillin, while Robles will battle Auburn’s Dante Saleh. Results will be posted at the conclusion of play tomorrow.
