Razorback MGolf Opens Spring Season at Sawgrass

FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas men’s golf program opens the spring portion of its 2022-23 schedule Feb. 5-6 at the Hayt, which will be played for the 31st time, at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The event will feature 36 holes on Sunday (Feb. 5) and a final 18 holes on Monday (Feb. 6).

Arkansas has played in this event eight times – but not since 2013 – and took home the tournament title three times (1993, 2011 and 2012). Razorback Phil Walker won the individual title in 1998.

Four of the five Razorbacks are coming off a successful run at the 2023 Latin America Amateur Championship, each placing among the top 15. Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira won – earning berths to The Masters, the U.S. Open and the Open Championship. Manuel Lozada tied for fifth, Julian Perico was sixth and Segundo Oliva Pinto tied for 15th.

Perico led the Razorbacks in the fall season with a 70.25 stroke average with three top-20 finishes in four events. Lozada and Fernandez de Oliveira averaged 71.42 and 71.92 strokes, respectively, and each turned in a pair of top-20 finishes.
