Player of the Week
Kevin Kopps
Stats (2 appearances): 5.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 12 K, .000 B/AVG, 1 SV
Kevin Kopps was unhittable in his two relief appearances against #11 South Carolina, helping #1 Arkansas remain the only team that has not lost an SEC series this year. Razorback pitchers combined to toss two two-hitters against the Gamecocks, and Kopps was involved in both. The righty picked up a three-inning save in the 6-1 series-opening win on Thursday, striking out six in three perfect frames. The reliver, who struck out 12 of the 15 batters he faced in the series, then punched out all six in his two-inning appearance in the series finale win. Kopps threw 43 of his 59 pitches during the series for strikes, generating 21 swings-and-misses while not allowing a single baserunner.
Pitcher of the Week
Patrick Wicklander
Stats: 1 G/1 GS, 7.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
Patrick Wicklander delivered his longest start of the season, going 7.0 innings in the nightcap of Friday’s doubleheader at #11 South Carolina. Wicklander struck out five, allowing only one run on two hits to earn his second win of the season.
Freshman of the Week
Cayden Wallace
Stats (3 GP/3 GS): 3-for-13, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB
Cayden Wallace made big plays with both his bat and glove in #1 Arkansas series win at #11 South Carolina. The freshman has a SportsCenter-worthy diving catch in the second game of the three-game set before swatting two-run homer in the finale to secure the Hogs’ sixth conference series win of the season. Wallace’s homer, his ninth of the year, provided the Razorbacks with some insurances runs, extending the Hogs’ narrow lead to 4-1 before winning Friday’s nightcap, 5-1.
Razorback Notes
