The Razorback catcher extended his team-leading hitting streak to 11 consecutive games, picking up base hits in all three contests on the road at Louisiana Tech to help Arkansas win another series. He had two hits, including a double, in Saturday’s 8-1 win. Opitz also stole three bases on the weekend, swiping one in each game.

The right-hander was a force on the mound in the second game of the series against Louisiana Tech, tossing a career-long eight innings of one-run ball to clinch Arkansas’ series win. Vermillion struck out two in the Razorbacks’ 8-1 victory.

Cayden Wallace

The freshman powered Arkansas to another series win, homering in each of the first two games on the road at Louisiana Tech. He collected two extra-base hits, including a home run, in Friday’s series opener, scoring a career-best three runs to lead the Hogs to their seventh comeback win of the year. He racked up a career-high three hits in Saturday’s 8-1 win, launching his second solo shot of the series and finishing the day with 2 runs batted in.

Razorback Notes

  • Prior to Sunday’s loss in the series finale, Arkansas’ 12-0 record marked the best start of the Dave Van Horn era and the second-best start in program history.
  • The Hogs won their first non-conference road series since taking two out of three games at Southern California (Feb. 21-23) during the 2019 campaign.
