FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – As the beginning of the fall tennis season draws near, Mike Redlicki, Jose Salazar and Adam Sanjurjo all garnered national rankings in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Preseason Rankings released Tuesday.
“Mike and Jose are among the best players nationally and have earned these rankings,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “They both were terrific last year and will be the leaders for what we believe can be an excellent team this year. Mike and Adam have world class doubles experience. Mike has been ranked No. 470 in the ATP with a win at the US Open main draw and Adam has been No. 526 in the ATP reaching three ATP futures finals in doubles.”
In singles, Redlicki ranked No. 11 nationally while Salazar was ranked No. 45, making Arkansas one of six SEC teams with two players in the top 50 nationally. Redlicki and Salazar both earned All-SEC honors this past season. Redlicki qualified for the NCAA Championships in singles, finishing the season No. 25 in the Oracle/ITA Rankings, while Salazar finished the season No. 72 in the Oracle/ITA Rankings.
Redlicki also combines with Sanjurjo for a No. 32 national ranking in doubles. Playing with Giammarco Micolani, Redlicki qualified for the NCAA Championships in doubles, finishing the season No. 20 in the Oracle/ITA Rankings. Sanjurjo was one of nine SEC freshmen with 13-plus overall singles dual wins during the regular season and six-plus conference singles wins. He finished with a 14-9 singles dual record and 9-11 doubles dual record.
Redlicki kicked off the fall schedule at the American Collegiate Invitational this past weekend. The entire team will be in action as the schedule continues in less than two weeks with the Southern Intercollegiate, which will be held Sept. 23-26 in Athens, Georgia.
