VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – The Arkansas men’s golf team closed out play at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, finishing sixth in the field of 12 teams with rounds of 285-285-291 – 861 (+21) at Old Overton Country Club.

Paced by three players in the top 20, the Razorbacks posted their third straight sixth place finish as No. 3 Auburn captured a one stroke victory at even par. UNLV (+1) finished second, followed by No. 21 Baylor (+7), UAB (+16) and No. 24 Alabama (+18) round out the top five.

Alvaro Ortiz, Luis Garza and Mason Overstreet all finished T-20th overall as Ortiz proved to be the most consistent player of the week with rounds of 72-71-72 – 215 (+5) to post his third straight top 20 finish.

Garza fired an opening round 2-under 68 and went on to post rounds of 68-74-73 – 215 (+5), while Overstreet had the round of the tournament for Arkansas with a 3-under 67 on Monday and posted 77-67-71 – 215 (+5) to record his first collegiate top 20 finish.

Charles Kim finished T-36th at 71-74-75 – 220 (+10) and Dylan Naidoo rounded out the team at 74-73-77 – 224 (+14) in T-46th.

The Razorbacks finished third in the field in par three scoring at 14-over and total pars with 161. Overstreet led the field in par five scoring at 3-under, while Overstreet and Garza were two of the 17 players in the field to record an eagle.

Arkansas returns to action next week, traveling to Bridgeport, West Virginia, on Oct. 10-11 for the Mountaineer Intercollegiate. The two-day event will be played at the Pete Dye Golf Club.
