Razorbacks 5th, Curry T4th at Hamptons Intercollegiate
EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. – The #23 Arkansas men’s golf team finished round two this morning, a 3-under-par round, and was even par this afternoon to finish fifth with a total of 884 (+20) at the Hamptons Intercollegiate, played at Maidstone Club.
The Razorbacks were led by sophomore Thomas Curry, who recorded his first career top-10, tying for fourth with a 2-over-par 214. He posted a 71 in round two and followed that with a 4-under 68 in round three. His final round consisted of four pars and a bogey to start. Then, he played the final 13 holes bogey-free with five birdies for his 68. Curry was second in the field by playing the par-3’s at 1-under, was fourth in the field with 33 pars and was ninth in the field with 13 birdies.
Mark Stockdale, playing as an individual, had his first top-20 finish as a Razorback thanks to an opening round 72 and a final round 71. Overall, he tied for 17th with a 3-over-par 219.
A pair of freshmen played a role in the Razorbacks’ solid finish. First, Erich Fortlage fired a career-best 68 in round two and finished 28th (81-68-74=223 / +7). He had two bogeys, four birdies and his first eagle as a Razorback. In the final round, Gerardo Gomez turned in a 2-under-par 70 and finished 27th (76-76-70=222 / +6). He offset three bogeys with three birdies and posted his 70 thanks to an eagle on the par-5, 13th.
Arkansas’s fivesome was rounded out by Pablo Garcia Terol finishing 42nd (73-72-76=227 / +11) and John Daly II tying for 50th (82-74-76=232 / +18).
The Razorbacks will conclude the fall portion of the 2024-25 schedule Oct. 21-23 at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, played this year at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.
