Razorbacks Back In Action at Seminole Intercollegiate

FAYETTEVILLE – After a strong outing earlier this week at the Cabo Collegiate, the Arkansas men’s golf program hits the road to play in the Seminole Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 10-11) at the par 70 Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, Ga.

The Razorbacks, ranked 70th prior to Cabo, are coming off a fourth-place finish earlier this week and jumped 19 spots to 51st in the NCAA/Clippd rankings.

This will be the fifth time Arkansas has played in the Seminole Intercollegiate. However, this is the first year the event is being played at Glen Arven Country Club.. Last year, the Razorbacks tied for fourth as Jacob Skov Olesen and John Driscoll II finished among the top 10 individually. In 2011, Arkansas won the Seminole Intercollegiate thanks to medalist Sebastian Cappelen.

Host and #15 Florida State headlines the 15-team field. The Seminoles finished third earlier this week at Cabo as Tyler Weaver won a three-man, three-hole playoff to earn an exemption on the PGA TOUR’s World Wide Technology Championship at El Cardonal at Diamante later this fall.

In this Arkansas’ seventh tournament of the year, Florida State will be in the same field for the fifth time. Arkansas and Florida square off for a sixth time later this month at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 24-25).

The Razorbacks will send the same five to the Seminole Intercollegiate it took to Cabo, plus one of the individuals.

Thomas Curry, the reigning SEC Golfer of the Week, is coming off a fifth-place finish at Cabo as he fired a final-round 66 and tied his career best with a 5-under-par score over 54 holes.

Gerardo Gomez placed T14 at Cabo and is tied with Curry for the team lead with three top-20 finishes this season. Erich Fortlage, who leads the team with seven rounds at par or better, won the  Palmas del Mar Collegiate in the team’s first spring event last month.

John Daly II and Manuel Lozada, each having counting scores twice at Cabo, round of the lineup. Pablo Garcia Terol will once again play as an individual thanks to his final-round 67 at Cabo.
