Razorbacks Begin SEC Play with Pair of Matches at Barnhill

Conference action kicks off soon for the Volley Hogs as they are set to host Ole Miss and LSU at Barnhill on Friday and Sunday.

Both the Rebels and Tigers are hovering in the middle of the pack of the SEC standings after wrapping up their non-conference slates. Ole Miss sits at 8-3 and LSU is currently 7-4.

Ole Miss has gone to at least four sets against each of its three Power 4 opponents so far, including a five-set loss against now-ranked Miami on Sept. 10. The Rebs are one of the best-serving teams in the SEC, checking in at No. 5 in aces/set at 1.80. They also have three athletes in the top three of their respective stat areas: Gabi Placide in kills/set (4.73), Mokihana Tufono is assists/set (10.61), and Cammy Niesen in digs/set (4.27).

LSU has also had a challenging preseason with matches against three ranked opponents, all but one requiring at least four sets. The Tigers’ Jurnee Robinson leads the SEC in total kills with 200 and is second in kills/set with 4.88. The series between the Hogs and Tigers has been very close over the last five seasons at 3-3, but LSU has only come to Fayetteville once in that stretch, a 3-1 win for Arkansas. The Tigers will play Oklahoma in Norman in Friday before heading to The Hill.

Friday’s SEC opener with Ole Miss is set for 7 p.m., and Sunday’s contest with LSU is at 3 p.m. Single match tickets are available online, in person, or by phone through the Razorback Ticket Center, and the matches will also be streamed

Doors open one hour prior to first serve, and parking is available in lots 204, 205, 207, 209, 211, 212, 214 and 215 surrounding Barnhill Arena.
