Razorbacks Cruise Past Tulsa, 4-0

TULSA, Okla. –  The Arkansas men’s tennis team (5-0) earned its fifth straight win after a 4-0 victory over Tulsa (3-1) Monday night at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

In doubles play, the Razorbacks took the early advantage with a win at the top spot, as No. 36 Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba defeated Doig/Jestin, 6-2. The Golden Hurricane responded with Tettamble/Tosetto obtaining a 6-3 victory against Brendan Boland and Dmitry Kopilevich at the No. 3 position. The doubles point came down to court two as No. 67 Eric Padgham and Ben Weintraub clinched the point for the Hogs after a 6-3 win over Seger/Volonski.

Arkansas started out cold in singles play, only taking the first set on three courts. Weintraub cruised to his third victory of the season, besting Reiya Komagata 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Lukas Palovic quickly followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Nikita Volonski in the top spot, while Gabriel Elicha Navas clinched the sweep for the Razorbacks after a hard fought 6-3, 7-6 (4) victory over Ruben Fernandez on court four.

The remaining three matches all went to three sets as the hosts took the first set on courts two, five and six. Each member of the squad won the second set to force a third set before the matches went unfinished.

The Hogs continue their roadtrip in New Haven, Conn. for a match against Yale on Friday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. CT and Penn on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. CT.
