Razorbacks Cruise Past UA-Fort Smith, 100-42, in Preseason Exhibition

FAYETTEVILLE – The Kelsi Musick era got off to a solid start on both sides of the ball, as Arkansas took down UA-Fort Smith, 100-42, on Thursday night in its lone preseason exhibition game.

The Razorbacks will open the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, November 4, against Louisiana Tech. The Lady Techsters were picked to win the C-USA.

First Half: Arkansas 42 – UAFS 14

  • Freshman Bonnie Deas scored the first point of the game, a free throw.
  • The Lions got out to a 5-1 lead before Arkansas went on a 22-2 run over the last seven minutes of the first quarter to flip the score to 23-7 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Arkansas also held Fort Smith to seven points in the second quarter and increased its lead to 28 points by halftime.
  • Sophomore transfer Maria Anais Rodriguez led all scorers in the first half, with 11 points and four rebounds.
  • Arkansas’ top four scorers from the first half included Rodriguez (11), Taleyah Jones (8), Emily Robinson (6) and Jenna Lawrence (5).

Second Half: Arkansas 58 – UAFS 28

  • Jones, who played for Musick for two seasons at ORU, led all scorers in the second half with 13 points. She went a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.
  • Freshman Harmonie Ware went 3-7 from the field and 4-6 from the free-throw line to enter double figures in the second half.
  • Deas and Lawrence each scored seven points to enter double figures for the game.
  • Lawrence drained a three-pointer with 13 seconds left to push the Hogs past the century mark.

Notes

  • The Razorbacks won the boards, 61-34, with 21 on the offensive side.
  • Arkansas forced 33 turnovers and took advantage, with 36 points off turnovers.
  • Musick played all 11 available players and the bench accounted for 48% of Arkansas’ points.
  • Rodriguez finished with 11 points and five rebounds, which would’ve set a career high for points and tied her career high in rebounds.
  • Jones led all scorers with 21 points and went 10-11 from the free-throw line. The senior also grabbed eight boards
  • Lawrence recorded the game’s only double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Arkansas’ largest lead was 59 points with 1:59 left in the game.
  • The Razorbacks shot 44.6% (33-74) from the field but only 64.3% from the line (27-42). Beyond the arc, the Hogs went 7-21 (33.3%). Lawrence and sophomore Jada Bates each made two threes.
  • Six Razorbacks finished in double figures: Jones (21), Lawrence (12), Ware (12), Rodriguez (11), Deas (10) and Robinson (10).
  • The Hogs held the Lions to single digits in each of the first three quarters.
