
Razorbacks Fall 6-1 to No. 31 Gators
FAYETEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team (4-13, 1-9) dropped its match to No. 31 Florida (8-8, 4-6), falling 6-1 on Friday at Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
In doubles play, the Gators took the early advantage with a victory on court one, as No. 60 Alicia Dudeney and Bente Spee defeated Olga Bienzobas and Carolina Gomez, 6-4. The Razorbacks bounced back with a win on court two, with Anet Koskel and Grace O’Donnell beating Rachel Gailis and Reagan Parker, 6-4. Florida claimed the doubles point after another victory from Talia Neilson-Gatenby and Noemie Oliveras over Jimena Gomez and Katarina Pavlechova at the No. 3 position.
The Gators carried their momentum into singles play, winning the first set on five courts. On court one, No. 39 Gailis grabbed a straight-set victory over No. 74 C. Gomez. The Hogs collected a point back after J. Gomez bested Parker, 6-3, 6-0. The win marked her second victory in the past week and third overall this spring.
On court five, Koskel dropped her match against Oliveras to extend the lead for Florida, while No. 91 Dudeney defeated Bienzobas 7-5, 6-4 to clinch the match. The remaining courts were played out, as Spee took down O’Donnell 6-4, 6-4, and Neilson-Gatenby finished the match off with a three-set win over Pavlechova.
The Razorbacks will return to Billingsley Tennis Center on Sunday, March 30 at 12 p.m. to host No. 8 Auburn.
