Razorbacks Finish 11th at SEC Championships
St. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Arkansas made a late charge to make the final eight – thanks to three birdies by Gerardo Gomes and two by Thomas Curry – but ultimately finished 11th with a 1-under-par total of 839 (281-278-280) at the 2025 SEC Men’s Golf Championships, played at Sea Island Golf Club – Seaside Course (70).
Gomez and Curry both fired a 2-under 68 to lead the Razorbacks in the final round.
Gomez, starting on hole 10, birdied holes 13 and 15, then fell back to even par with a double bogey on 16. After five straight pars, the freshman birdied three of his next six holes to get to 3-under before dropping a shot on his final hole, the 452-yard, par-4, 9th. Overall, he climbed 15 spots to finish in a tie for 38th (74-69-68) with a 1-over total of 211.
Curry climbed 16 spots in the final round thanks to his 2-under 68 on Friday. He was even at the turn with a birdie on 16 and a bogey on 18. He played his final nine holes at 2-under with a pair of bogeys and birdies on holes 1, 3, 7 and 8. The sophomore ended in a tie for 45th with a 2-over 212 (73-71-68).
Erich Fortlage led the Razorbacks over the three rounds, tying for 30th with a 1-under total of 209 (68-66-75).
John Daly II tied for 57th (69-73-72=214 / +4) and Mark Stockdale tied for 63rd (71-72-72=215 / +5).
#2 Auburn won the stroke play portion with a 3-8-under total of 802. #7 LSU, which was tied with Auburn after 36 holes, finished second at 811 (-29). Rounding out the top eight were #17 Texas A&M (-23), #6 Oklahoma (-21), #8 Florida (-16), #31 Georgia (-11), #16 Alabama (-6) and #5 Texas (-6).
Up next, Arkansas will wait to hear its postseason fate as the NCAA men’s golf selection show will be televised next Wednesday (April 30) from Noon-1pm (CT) on GOLF Channel. The Razorbacks have earned an NCAA Regional berth in 16 straight seasons, dating back to head coach Brad McMakin’s second season at Arkansas (2007-08). (Note, the 2020 postseason was canceled due to COVID.)
