Razorbacks have crew of 11 competing at World Indoors
FAYETTEVILLE – The World Indoor Championships held in Toruń, Poland, this Friday through Sunday will include 11 Razorbacks among the field of entries.
The men’s field includes Jordan Anthony (USA, 60m), Romaine Beckford (Jamaica, High Jump), Jerome Campbell (Jamaica, 60m Hurdles), Steven McElroy (USA, 4 x 400m relay), Carey McLeod (Jamaica, Long Jump), and Tyrice Taylor (Jamaica, 4 x 400m relay).
Among the women’s field are Rosey Effiong (USA, 400m, 4 x 400m relay), Nikki Hiltz (USA, 1,500m), Paris Peoples (USA, 4 x 400m relay), Nia Robinson (Jamaica, Long Jump), and Tina Šutej (Slovenia, Pole Vault).
Anthony enters the meet as the world leader in 60m with a 6.43 he ran at the Tyson Invitational. Three rounds of the 60m will be contested on the first day of the World Indoor Championships. Anthony will race in lane 7 of the fourth prelim heat, where the top 3 finishers of each heat, plus the next 3 fastest times advance to the semifinal.
The women’s 400m will have two rounds of competition on the opening day. Effiong, who placed sixth the final of the 2025 World Indoors, races in lane 6 in the second heat as the first 2 finishers in each heat plus the next 2 fastest times qualify for the semifinal. Effiong earned gold last year in the 4 x 400m relay.
Hiltz, a silver medalist at the 2024 World Indoors, is in the first heat of the 1,500m where the top 3 finishers in each of the three heats advance to the final.
Saturday’s action includes Beckford in the high jump final and Campbell in the semifinal of the 60m hurdles. Finals in the women’s 400m and men’s 60m hurdles will also be contested.
The final day has Robinson in the women’s long jump final, Šutej in the women’s pole vault final, and McLeod in the men’s long jump final. Additional finals include the women’s 1,500m and both 4 x 400m relays.
McLeod earned bronze at the 2024 World Indoors while Šutej collected silver in 2025 and bronze in 2022 at World Indoor meets.
