Razorbacks maintain national No. 1 ranking after SEC Indoor title
NEW ORLEANS – Following the conference weekend, Arkansas remained in the No. 1 position of the USTFCCCA national rating index for the fourth consecutive week. Up next for the Razorbacks is the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 10-11 in Albuquerque.
One of five SEC schools among the nation’s top 10 teams, Arkansas remains ahead of Washington, Florida, Texas Tech, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and Nebraska.
Other SEC schools among the top 35 include Kentucky (17), LSU (18), Mississippi State (20), South Carolina (23), Ole Miss (24), Texas A&M (27), and Auburn (31).
In the NCAA Indoor meet, the top 16 in each event as well as the top 12 schools in each relay, contend for individual and relay national titles on the way to determining the national team champion.
Arkansas will be in contention for its 20th indoor national championship, and 42nd overall. The most recent NCAA Indoor Championship for the Razorbacks occurred in 2013.
In event squad rankings, which is the average of the top four individuals in an event, the Razorbacks rank No. 1 in three events this week – long jump (26-3.25 | 8.01), triple jump (52-7.25 | 16.03), and heptathlon (5,895).
Arkansas also ranks No. 2 in the shot put (60-11.75 | 18.58) and 60m hurdles (7.72) as well as No. 4 in the 400m (46.36).
