Razorbacks Open SEC Volleyball Tournament Play on Friday
After a 20-year hiatus, the SEC Volleyball Tournament is officially back, and the Hogs will appear in the event’s opening match against Oklahoma on Friday.
Arkansas appeared in 12 SEC Volleyball Tournaments between 1994 and when the tournament was dissolved in 2005. In that time, the Hogs were 19-11 with seven semifinal appearances and one tournament title in 1997.
Seeded 16th, the Razorbacks match up with nine seed Oklahoma on Friday at 11 a.m. in Savannah, Ga. It’s been less than a month since the Sooners and Hogs faced off and Oklahoma went 2-2 since then, with wins over Mississippi State and Alabama and losses to Kentucky in Tennessee.
The match against Oklahoma was one of Arkansas’ best in SEC play, with each set decided by no more than four points. The Razorbacks hit .311, their best hitting clip in SEC play and fourth-best all season.
Oklahoma outranks Arkansas in all statistical categories except digs/set, in which the Hogs are ranked 10th in the SEC with 13.58, and the Sooners are 16th with 10.43.
Friday’s match is set for 11 a.m. CT and will air live on SEC Network. Should Arkansas advance, the Razorbacks would play No. 8 Auburn on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. on SEC Network+.
