Razorbacks power to pair of No. 1 USTFCCCA national rankings

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas men’s and women’s track and field programs each gained No. 1 status in this week’s USTFCCCA national ratings index following their stellar performances during the Razorback Invitational this past weekend.

The Arkansas men, 18th in the first installment of the rankings, hold the No. 1 position over Texas A&M, USC, Washington, and Florida among the top 5. The rest of the top 10 includes Oklahoma, Texas Tech, North Carolina, Illinois, and Ole Miss.

Ranked fourth in the first installment of the rankings, the Razorback women moved to No. 1 over Oregon, Texas Tech, Illinois, and Georgia among the top 5. The rest of the top 10 includes BYU, Stanford, Texas A&M, Clemson, and Oklahoma.

There are nine SEC schools among the men’s top 25, while 10 SEC schools are among the women’s top 25.

Among individual national rankings Isabella Whittaker is No. 1 in the 400m along with the Razorback 4 x 400m relay while Rachel Glenn ranks third in the high jump.

Arkansas men currently have four athletes ranked third nationally – Yaseen Abdalla (3,000m), Scottie Vines (High Jump), Apalos Edwards (Triple Jump), and Jack Turner (Heptathlon).

Other Razorback women ranked in the top 10 nationally include Joanne Reid (4th, 400m), Kaylyn Brown (7th, 200m), Nia Robinson (8th, Long Jump & 9th, Triple Jump), Whittaker (9th, 800m), Paityn Noe (10th, 5,000m), and the Arkansas distance medley relay (4th).

Additional Razorback men among the top 10 national rankings include Jaden Smith (5th, 400m), Patrick Kiprop (5th, 5,000m), Jordan Anthony (6th, 60m), Jaxon Bair (7th, Heptathlon), Reuben Reina (8th, Mile), Steven McElory (9th, 400m), Rivaldo Marshall (10th, 800m), and the 4 x 400m relay (4th).

The next home meet for Arkansas is the Tyson Invitational on February 14-15 inside the Randal Tyson Track Center. The 38-team field includes six SEC schools in Alabama, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas.
