Razorbacks Prepare to Host No. 44 LSU, No. 8 Georgia
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 59 Arkansas men’s tennis team (12-8, 0-7) returns home for a pair of conference matches this weekend. The Razorbacks will host Alumni Night as they take on the No. 44 LSU Tigers (10-7, 1-6) on Friday, March 31, and then face the No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs (12-6, 6-0) on Sunday, April 2 at Billingsley Tennis Center.
Arkansas is searching for its first win in league play, dropping their last two matches against No. 19 Florida and No. 6 South Carolina both 6-1. The two points scored through both matches came in singles play by freshman Gerard Planelles Ripoll and Alan Sau Franco. Planelles Ripoll holds an impressive 12-2 record, going 6-0 on court five so far this spring while Sau Franco moves to 6-4 overall.
The Tigers earned their first conference win last Sunday, defeating No. 48 Alabama, 4-3. Ronald Hohmann is the one-ranked singles player for the Tigers at No. 58, he holds a 5-6 record at the top spot this spring. In doubles, No. 48 Latinovic/Watson lead the team on court one with six wins.
The Bulldogs are undefeated in conference play this spring, hosting No. 4 Kentucky before traveling to Arkansas. In its last match, the Bulldogs defeated LSU, 5-2 by winning the doubles point and the top three singles courts. In singles play, freshman Ethan Quinn is No. 4 in the rankings after winning five of his last six matches. The Bulldogs have four other ranked players, with No. 99 Blake Croyder leading the team with 19 wins.
