FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After turning in impressive campaigns in 2014-15, Yuliya Lysa and Shannon Hudson of Arkansas womens tennis will open the 2015-16 season ranked nationally in both singles and doubles, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Tuesday.

Lysa, a senior, will begin the season ranked 30th in the singles poll, her highest ranking since joining the Razorbacks last season. The Kiev, Ukraine native was selected to the 2015 All-SEC Second Team and earned the program’s 12th at-large singles bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships after putting together a 20-9 record.

Hudson, a junior, claimed the No. 96 spot in the poll. Hudson posted a 12-9 singles record last season, defeating a trio of nationally ranked opponents.

In doubles, Lysa and Hudson check in as the No. 11 overall tandem in the nation. The pair finished the 2015 season at No. 31 in the final national rankings.

In conjunction with the preseason rankings, selections for the 2015 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships were released as well. The duo of Lysa and Hudson will represent Arkansas in the main doubles draw. Lysa was also selected to the singles qualifying draw, the 22nd Razorback under head coach Michael Hegarty to do so. Hudson earned her way into the pre-qualifying bracket of the tournament. The event is slated for Oct. 3-11 in Los Angeles.

Coach Hegarty’s squad, who claimed the program’s 13th overall NCAA Championship bid last season, opens the fall campaign Sept. 25 with multiple Razorbacks heading to the Little Rock Classic in Little Rock, Arkansas as well as the UVa Invite in Charlottesville, Virginia.
