Razorbacks set multiple distance PRs at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. – Racing in the 10,000m at the Stanford Invitational Friday evening, Razorback Timothy Chesondin generated a time of 27 minutes, 55.10 seconds to finish eighth and produced the second fastest time in UA history.

Chesondin ranks No. 2 on the UA all-time list behind the school record of 27:52.10 set in 2009 by Shawn Forrest. Chesondin had a previous best of 29:30.20 from 2024.

In the 5,000m Invitational, Ben Shearer finished second with a career best time of 13:24.74, which ranks No. 5 on the UA all-time list. Portland’s Matt Strangio won the race in 13:24.14 while Collins Kiprotich of New Mexico finished third in 13:25.06. Razorback Brian Masai posted a time of 13:55.43 to place 20th.

Competing in section 2 of the 5,000m, Reuben Reina set an outdoor career best of 13:46.42 to finish 15th. Arkansas teammates Elias Schreml (14:02.79) and Tommy Romanow (14:14.40) were also in the race.

Davis Helmrich equaled his 1,500m career best with a 3:43.35 performance to finish eighth in section 1 of the 1,500m at Stanford. Helmerich posted the same time back in 2022. Donavan Bitticks posted a time of 3:54.42 in his debut at the event to place 14th in section 2.

Jack Williams improved his career best in the 3,000m steeplechase as he finished fifth in section 3 with a 8:54.09. Williams previous best was 9:05.17 from 2023.

The Razorbacks host the Arkansas Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 12.
