Razorbacks Stay 11th After Round 2 at The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. – The Razorback golf team, ranked 20th in the coaches poll, knocked five strokes off its day one score, shooting a 295, but remained in 11th place (tied) with a 36-hole score of 595 at The Prestige, played at the par 71, 7,100-yard Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST.

LSU, ranked 16th nationally, shot the low round of the day (280) and leaped top-ranked Oklahoma State for first. The Tigers have a 36-hole total of 559 and lead the Cowboys (564) by five strokes. The top five is rounded out by #14 Pepperdine (570), #44 UCLA (571) and #42 Oregon (574).

The 15-team field features 14 programs ranked among the GolfStat top 100 and the University of Stirling, one of the top golf programs in the United Kingdom.

Julian Perico led Arkansas Tuesday. The freshman shot a 1-under-par 70 and moved up 23 spots into a tie for 26th with a two-day score of 146 (76-70). Perico had four birdies and 12 pars. He is a combined 1-under par on the par 4’s – the second-best total in the field.

Mason Overstreet, ranked 70th in the NCAA, is also tied for 26th after carding an even par 71, climbing 16 spots on the leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 146 (75-71). The junior started strong with three birdies on his first four holes and made the turn at 1-under par. On his back nine, Overstreet got two 2-under for the day after a birdie on the par-5 4th hole before dropping shots on holes 6 and 9 for his even-par round. Over two days, Overstreet is playing the par 3’s at 3-under-par, which ties for the tournament lead.

William Buhl, ranked 89th nationally, is tied for 50th with a two-day total of 150 (74-76).  Tyson Reeder is tied for 65th (75-79=54) and Luis Garza is 78th (80-78=158).
