Razorbacks Take To The Road For Back-To-Back Meets
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks have taken to the road for their first pair of away meets this season as they travel to Baton Rouge to square off against LSU on Thursday before returning to Arkansas to face UALR at their natatorium in Little Rock on Friday morning.
The Hogs are coming off a nearly two-week gap between meets following their defeat of Kentucky at home to start the season. “We’ve had a great opportunity to focus and train hard in the pool and in the weight room the past couple of weeks,” said head swimming coach Neil Harper.
The Razorbacks are in for a challenge with less than 24 hours between meets, but Harper is confident in the team’s ability to perform well and bounce back. He remarked that “These meets will be a good test on the road. It will be great to see how we compete,” he further emphasized, “we want to be sharp on both days.”
Harper, himself LSU alum, said that “it’s always fun to go back to Baton Rouge,” where he swam and coached previously. “We have a lot of respect for the LSU program and the amazing things they have done in recent years,” remarked Harper. Last season, the Tigers finished fifth in the SEC, and they had swimmers earn podium finishes in the NCAA Championships in March. Harper feels that the meet will be “a tough challenge, but one that we welcome.”
