Razorbacks Travel To Defending National Champions

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The challenging journey through the Southeastern Conference continues this week as the University of Arkansas women’s basketball team travels to No. 9 South Carolina on Thursday.

The game tips at 5:30 p.m. central and airs on the SEC Network. The Razorbacks face their second consecutive ranked opponent and are playing in their fourth road game in the last five contests.

Scouting Arkansas
Arkansas enters the game with an 11-9 record and a 2-5 mark in SEC play. The Razorbacks have played back-to-back games without graduate student Devin Cosper who is sidelined with an injury. As a result, several players have had to adjust their roles in her absence.

Leading scorer Malica Monk continues to handle the ball at the point and has been tasked with finding a few more points in games for Arkansas. Sophomore Jailyn Mason is seeing more time at the point and Kiara Williams and Bailey Zimmerman remain vital parts of Arkansas’ starting lineup.

Keiryn Swenson, Raven Northcross-Baker, Taylah Thomas and Sydney Stout are just a few of the players who could see more minutes as the season progresses.

Scouting No. 9 South Carolina
Ranked No. 9 in the country and No. 4 in the SEC, the Gamecocks enter Thursday’s game with a 16-3 record and are 5-2 in the SEC. They are paced by A’ja Wilson who averages a double-double with 23.4 ppg and 10.9 rpg this season. She is one of four players on the defending national champions’ roster who average double digit points.

South Carolina is one of just five teams in the nation who are shooting at least 50% from the field this season.
