Razorbacks Travel to Oklahoma for Doubleheader

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 42 Arkansas women’s tennis team (5-2) continues their road stint as they travel to the University of Oklahoma for a doubleheader. The Razorbacks will take the courts on Saturday, February 26 facing the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners (6-5) at 10 a.m. CT and the Missouri State Bears (4-3) at 3 p.m. CT.

Arkansas traveled to Texas last weekend, beginning the eight-match stretch on the road with a win over No. 37 Baylor and a loss to No. 44 SMU. The Razorbacks made their debut in the ITA Team Rankings at No. 42 with freshman Carolina Gomez Alonso at No. 74 and Morgan Cross/Indianna Spink at No. 46. Gomez Alonso improved to 4-0 this spring with two singles wins at Baylor and SMU to earn her SEC Freshman of the Week.

The Oklahoma Sooners are ranked No. 18 after a 1-2 outing at the ITA National Indoor Championships. Oklahoma started out the week with a 4-2 win over No. 10 Duke, before falling to No. 6 Georgia and No. 8 Texas to end the championships. The Sooners have one singles and two doubles duos in the latest ITA Rankings. No. 82 Dana Guzman leads the team with seven wins at court three and was the lone singles point against the Longhorns. In doubles, the Sooners took the point over Texas and No. 12 Pisareva/Sleeth hold a 5-1 record at court two.

Missouri State is coming off a 4-3 win over Southwest Baptist on Thursday, facing the Razorbacks on Saturday before taking on the Sooners. Leading the team is Diana Cabrera with a 3-3 record at the top position for the Bears. In doubles, Cabrera teams up with Alyson Piskulic at court two holding a 3-2 record to lead the team in wins.
