Razorbacks Wrap Up A Successful U.S. Open

DES MOINES, IOWA- The Arkansas Swimming and Diving team wrapped up a great performance at the 2020 Toyota U.S. Open this morning. To begin the day, Peyton Palsha set a new school record in the 1500m freestyle, secured her third Olympic Trial cut time of the weekend and won the event with a time of 16:42.79. In the 100m freestyle, Kobie Melton, Emily Barclay (57.39) and Molly Moore (58.19) all competed in the 100m freestyle. Melton won the event and set a new personal best with a time of 56.61. Vanessa Herrmann continued her great performance this weekend by winning the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:32.94, which is also good for an Olympic Trials cut time.

“It was a very successful weekend,” said Arkansas Head Coach Neil Harper. “We had 6 Olympic Trial Cuts, 7 Gold Medals, 2 School Records and over 12 lifetime best swims. These ladies did a great job representing our team at the highest level and proved that we continue to have a nationally recognized and hugely successful program. We are very thankful for the opportunity to compete during these difficult times and are definitely making the most of our chances to perform well!”

From Thursday November 19th until Saturday November 21st, the Razorback swimmers will be competing in the Missouri Invite at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. On those same days, the Razorback divers will be competing in the Texas Diving Invite at the Texas Swimming Center.
