Razorbacks participate in campus walk
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Members of several University of Arkansas athletic teams were poised to participate in the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event on campus Wednesday night, but a pop up storm sent many under cover.
Members of the men’s basketball, women’s tennis and women’s golf teams were present prior to the rain, gathered in the courtyard behind the Arkansas Union. The growing crowd, several hundred strong, was asked several times to spread out so others could join the cause but the rain quickly diminished the crowd.
The "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event is the international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Started in 2001, it has grown over the years and was scheduled for October on the Fayetteville campus. October is also domestic violence awareness month.
