Reeder Honored by SEC
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arkansas graduate senior Tyson Reeder was named the SEC Co-Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced today.
Reeder shared the honor with Georgia’s Davis Thompson, who was also co-medalists with Reeder at this week’s Tiger Invitational by Jason Dufner. Reeder is the first Razorback to earn the league’s weekly honor since March of 2018 when teammates Luis Garza and Alvaro Ortiz were co-honorees and co-medalists at the Southern Intercollegiate.
Reeder’s Tournament Win Highlights:
- Birdied his final hole to get the win – his second career win. Shot rounds of 67-69-70 for a 10-under-par 206.
- Was in third place and three strokes back after round two.
- Was in second with three holes left in the final round before play was postponed due to inclement weather. Came back the next day to card a par, bogey, birdie to win.
- Played the par-5 12th hole at 5-under for the three days with a birdie and two eagles.
- Tied Thompson (ranked 16th in Golfstat.com) and beat 22 players ranked in the Golfstat.com top 100, including four in the top 20.
- 10-under-par was his career-best score in relation to par and ties for 15th-best on the school’s all-time list. His 206 marks his best 54-hole total on a par 72 course.
- Helped Arkansas place seventh in the 15-team field, featuring 11 teams (including Arkansas) in the Golfstat.com top 45. Arkansas beat five of those teams.
Reeder is the 13th Razorback (on record) to win multiple career events. The graduate senior won Nebraska’s Git-R-Done Invitational two years ago with a 36-hole total of 140 (-2). Reeder joins current Hogs William Buhl and Julian Perico was two-time career winners and joins Perico was a winner this year.
Reeder and the Razorbacks will travel to West Point, Miss., to play in Mississippi State’s Old Waverly Collegiate Mar. 26-28.
