Regional Championship Returns To Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following a one-year hiatus the NCAA South Central Region Championship has returned to Fayetteville, set to be contested at Agri Park on Friday, Nov. 11.
The regional championship will open with the women’s 6K race at 11 a.m. CT and close with the men’s 10K race at 12 p.m., following which the All-Region performers will be announced.
This will be the fourth time the regional meet has made its way to the University of Arkansas, which first hosted the event in November 2007.
Final Regional Rankings
Arkansas men’s and women’s cross country teams sit atop of the standings in the most recent USTFCCCA regional polls announced on Oct. 31. In the national standings Southern Methodist’s (SMU) women’s team joins the Razorbacks (men and women) inside the top 30 at No. 29.
The Razorbacks enter the meet as the teams to beat with the men in pursuit of a fourth-consecutive title and the women in the hunt for their sixth regional title in a row.
What’s At Stake
On the men’s side the Razorbacks will be pursued by former Southwest Conference rival Texas who will be looking to snap their three-year runner-up streak and advance into the top spot.
The women’s competition looks to shape up into a battle between the Mustangs of SMU and the Razorbacks both of whom have been staples in the top-three of the South Central Region for the last three years.
The USTFCCCA will be providing a live stream of updates featuring pictures, results and splits on their National Results Wall. Fans can engage in the event using the hashtag #DIRegionals on social media.
