Rijo Representing Dominican Republic in XX Juegos Bolivarianos Ayacucho - Lima 2025

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas softball senior infielder Atalyia Rijo is representing the Razorbacks on the global stage by competing for the Dominican Republic in the XX Juegos Bolivarianos Ayacucho – Lima 2025 in La Molina, Lima, Peru from Nov. 23-27, 2025.

Rijo and the Dominican Republic are facing Bolivia, Venezuela, and Peru in the five-day event. The Dominican Republic is currently 1-2 overall after falling to host Peru (3-1) and Venezuela (11-4) on Sunday before run-ruling Bolivia, 11-0 on Monday morning.

As of Monday morning, through three games in the event, Rijo has homered twice while driving in five runs, scoring five runs, and being hit by a pitch twice in nine plate appearances. She hit a towering solo shot in the fourth inning of the loss to Venezuela before smashing a two-run inside-the-park home run in the run-rule triumph over Bolivia. Defensively, Rijo has started all three games at shortstop and posted a 1.000 fielding percentage with seven assists and two putouts while being a part of two double plays.

Rijo is coming off an impressive 2025 campaign in which she batted .318 with 50 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, six home runs, and 38 RBI with 28 runs scored and 13 walks while posting a .389 on-base percentage and .966 fielding percentage on her way to earning NFCA All-Central Region Second-Team honors. The Horseheads, N.Y. product hit .900 (9-10) with a solo home run, three RBI, and a walk during the Fayetteville Regional while setting the Arkansas program record for hits in an NCAA Tournament game with a pair of four-hit games in both wins over Oklahoma State (May 17-18).
