Rivaldo Marshall receiving votes for 2025 Bowerman Watch List

FAYETTEVILLE – The 2025 Bowerman Men’s Preseason Watch List includes Razorback newcomer Rivaldo Marshall listed among nine athletes receiving votes for the honor.

Marshall, the 2024 NCAA Indoor champion at 800m while at Iowa, produced an indoor best of 1:46.86 last season at the Randal Tyson Track Center and improved to 1:45.86 outdoors, both of which were Iowa school records.

The NCAA victory by Marshall became just the second indoor national title in the Iowa men’s program history and the Hawkeye’s first track and field champion since 2019 when Laulauga Tausaga won the discus title.

After leading the prelims with a 1:47.21 at the indoor national meet, Marshall claimed the final in 1:46.96 over a pair of seniors in Villanova’s Sean Dolan (1:47.61) and Iowa State’s Finley McLear (1:47.68). Earlier in the indoor season, Marshall won the 800m at Arkansas’ Tyson Invitational with his indoor best of 1:46.86 to defeat McLear (1:46.97).

Marshall opened the outdoor season in 2024 at Arizona’s Jim Click Shootout in early April and won the 800m in his outdoor best of 1:45.86. In late April, returning to Tucson, Arizona, Marshall finished as runner-up in 1:46.38.

Prior to Iowa, Marshall competed two seasons at Indian Hills CC, where he won the 2022 NJCAA Outdoor 800m and the 2023 NJCAAA Indoor 800m titles.

Marshall is one of nine athletes receiving votes for the watch list. The 10 athletes on the Men’s Preseason Watch List include Mykolas Alekna (California), Johnny Brackins, Jr. (USC), Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan (Ole Miss), Tarsis Orogot (Alabama), Habtom Samuel (New Mexico), Ethan Strand (North Carolina), Ja’Kobe Tharp (Auburn), Sam Whitmarsh (Texas A&M), and Parker Wolfe (North Carolina).

The Razorbacks open the 2025 indoor season next Friday, January 17, in hosting the Arkansas Invitational.
