Sanu Jallow-Lockhart named semifinalist for the Bowerman
FAYETTEVILLE – In receiving numerous honors since winning the NCAA 800m title with a collegiate record performance, Arkansas senior Sanu Jallow-Lockhart added another accolade as she was named among 10 semifinalists for the 2026 Bowerman award.
Members of The Bowerman Advisory Board, who have produced watch lists throughout the season, devised this list of semifinalists by providing a ranked-ordered list of 10 athletes who they believe had the most outstanding season. The list of semifinalists represents the group’s consensus.
The same Advisory Board will assemble to deliberate who will be named among three women’s finalists. Those selections will be made public on Monday, June 29.
Jallow-Lockhart is the eighth Razorback female to be named a semifinalist and this marks the ninth time for Arkansas to be represented as a women’s semifinalist for the Bowerman.
Previously, Arkansas was represented by Tina Šutej (2011), Sandi Morris (2015), Dominique Scott (2016), Janeek Brown (2019), Britton Wilson (2022, 2023), Ackera Nugent (2023), and Nickisha Pryce (2024).
From that group there have been three Razorbacks named a finalist for the women’s Bowerman – Brown, Šutej, and Wilson.
This year’s collection of Bowerman semifinalists include an array of collegiate records and national champions.
Jallow-Lockhart established a pair of collegiate records in the 600m indoors and 800m outdoors while winning the NCAA Outdoor 800m title and running on NCAA winning 4 x 400m relays, indoor and outdoor, that both produced the second fastest collegiate times ever behind collegiate records held by Arkansas.
Honors this season for Jallow-Lockhart have included sharing the USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Year with Georgia’s Adeajah Hodge, as well as being named among four finalists for the Honda Sport Award in track and field, and the USTFCCCA South Central Region Track Athlete of the Year.
