Season Continues With ULM Sunday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team hosts Louisiana-Monroe in game two of the 2016-17 season on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena.
Malica Monk dropped in 10 first-half points, Jessica Jackson had 20 and Alecia Cooley was in double figures leading the Razorbacks to a 71-39 win over Sam Houston State in the season opener on Friday. The win moves Arkansas to a perfect 7-0 on Elementary Day with 4,330 fans in attendance for the 10:30 a.m. contest – the third largest crowd for a home morning game. Arkansas went on a 16-0 run holding the Bearkats scoreless for 7:13 in the first half and never trailed in the game. Monk and Cooley both finished with 12 points and Jackson paced the rebounding with eight boards in the win.
ULM opened its season with an 83-39 win over Centenary on Friday. The Warhawks also used a big first quarter run to put the Ladies away. Alexis Collins had 19 points shooting 9-for-12 from the floor to lead ULM.
The Opponent
Arkansas is 9-0 all-time against the Warhawks with six wins in Fayetteville and three in Monroe, Louisiana. The most recent meeting was a 77-38 Razorback win in Bud Walton Arena and this season’s contest is the first for Arkansas head coach Jimmy Dykes against ULM.

• Senior Jessica Jackson dropped in 20 points in the season opener against Sam Houston State and had a game high eight rebounds
• Senior Alecia Cooley and sophomore Malica Monk had 12 points each in the season opener
• Jackson’s 20-point performance moves her into a tie for eighth place with 1,459 career points
Looking Ahead
Arkansas is in the midst of a four-game home stand to open the year. The Razorbacks host WNIT Champion South Dakota Nov. 17 followed by Stetson Nov. 21 before traveling to Reno, Nev., for the Nugget Classic.
