SEC Champs! Soccer Wins Fifth SEC Title in Last Seven Years

FAYETTEVILLE – No. 6 Arkansas soccer (9-3-4, 7-1-2 SEC) was crowned the SEC regular season champion after a 3-1 win over Oklahoma (10-4-4, 3-4-3 SEC) on Sunday afternoon at Razorback Field.

The title race came down to the last match, as the top four teams were separated by one point each. Arkansas finished with 23 points, followed by Vanderbilt with 22, Tennessee with 21 and Georgia with 20.

The Razorbacks scored three straight goals before giving up a handball penalty in the 89th minute. Anaiyah Nurse-Whyte scored the first, her first of the season, followed by senior Erin Bailey before the end of the first half.

Freshman Natalie Wagner added a third goal in the 83rd minute, her first of SEC play.

Senior goalkeeper Evelyn Vitali notched five saves and held the Sooners scoreless until the late penalty kick taken by Juliette Rayo.

After the celebrations, the Razorbacks honored nine seniors: Dejionee Anderson, Erin Bailey, Taylor Berman, Ainsley Erzen, Makenzie Malham, Ella Riley, Zoe Susi, Taylor Tommack and Evelyn Vitali.

With the win, Arkansas will be the No. 1 seed at next week’s SEC Tournament and will face the winner of Oklahoma/Mississippi State on Tuesday, November 4, at 4:30 p.m.

  • With three more goals, Arkansas finished with an SEC-play best 22 goals and 63 points.
  • The Hogs improved to 24-0-3 against SEC opponents at Razorback Field since 2020.
  • The crowd of 2,721 is the 10th largest crowd in Razorback Field history.
  • Oklahoma was 5-0-0 in Fayetteville going into Sunday’s match.
  • Arkansas is the first team to win the SEC regular season championship with seven wins since Florida did so in 2006.
