Seven to Swim at Last Chance

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- Seven Arkansas swimmers will compete at the NCAA Last Chance meet at Missouri this weekend, as each tries to cut time in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday morning from the Mizzou Aquatic Center, with finals to follow at 5 p.m.

The Razorbacks set to compete at the event are freshmen Vannessa Herrmann, Svea Torres, and Erin McGuirt, sophomore Peyton Palsha, and juniors Carly Holland and Sarah Dalton Chambliss.

Last week in Athens, Ga., the Hogs earned an eighth-place finish at the SEC Championships, the highest finish for the team since 2014. Arkansas combined for five NCAA ‘A’ cuts and 20 NCAA ‘B’ cuts, as well as earning five podium finishes and setting five school records in as many days.

Junior Anna Hopkin earned automatic qualifying times in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle, while Kobie Melton, Hopkin, Molly Moore, and Marlena Piglicampi had a qualifying time in the 400 yard freestyle relay and Andrea Sansores, Sydney Angell, Melton, and Hopkin earned a qualifying time in the 200 yard medley relay.
