Sharpe sisters impressive at John McDonnell Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE – Amirah and Arianna Sharpe finished first and second in the 400m at the John McDonnell Invitational on Friday and followed with second and third place in the 200m.
Amirah Sharpe won the 400m in a career best of 51.95 as Arianna finished second in 52.07. Amirah registered her previous best of 52.20 at last year’s John McDonnell Invitational while Arianna was just shy of her 51.91 PR set last May.
In the 200m, Amirah produced a second PR with a 23.39 as runner-up with Arianna placing third in a career best of 23.42 behind a 23.22 for Ranayla Moten of Allen CC.
Amirah’s previous best of 23.40 was set in San Antonio last month when the Razorbacks opened the outdoor season at the UTSA Invitational. Arianna has a windy best of 23.14 from last season and she bettered her wind-legal best of 23.95 from 2024.
Maria Arboleda registered her third high jump victory among four meets this outdoor season with a clearance of 5-10.75 (1.80) while Heidi Hudson finished third at 5-7 (1.70).
Racing in the Invitational 800m, Ainsley Erzen produced a season best of 2:07.22 to place fifth. Hannah Estes finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing 13-6.25 (4.12).
