Smith, Bohrofen Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas pitcher Hagen Smith and outfielder Jace Bohrofen have earned All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings. Smith was named to the South All-Region First Team, while Bohrofen landed on the South All-Region Second Team.
One of four first-team starting pitchers, Smith wrapped up his true sophomore campaign at Arkansas as the 32nd All-American in program history. The left-hander, who made 18 appearances with 11 starts on the mound, went 8-2 with a 3.64 ERA, a team-leading 109 strikeouts and two saves in 71 2/3 innings.
In SEC play, Smith worked in a variety of roles, making 11 appearances with five starts, and compiled a 5-1 record with a 3.07 ERA. He racked up 65 strikeouts over 44 innings while limiting opposing hitters to a .201 batting average.
Smith is the first Razorback starting pitcher to earn first-team All-Region praise from the ABCA/Rawlings since Isaiah Campbell in 2019. Kevin Kopps garnered first-team All-Region recognition as a relief pitcher in 2021.
Bohrofen, meanwhile, paced the Razorback offense this past season, posting a .318/.436/.612 slash line with 16 home runs and 52 runs batted in over 60 games played. He led the Hogs in nearly every major offensive category, including batting average (.318), runs scored (54), hits (68), doubles (15), home runs (16) and total bases (131).
In SEC play, Bohrofen slashed .288/.394/.541 with a team-leading seven home runs and 20 RBI over 30 games. He is the first Razorback outfielder to earn All-Region honors from the ABCA/Rawlings since Heston Kjerstad in 2019.
First Team All-Region selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams will be announced on Friday, June 16, prior to the start of the 2023 College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
